About Dr. Alan Porter
Dr. Alan H. Porter, director of Porter Radiation Oncology Centers in Florida since 1975, holds fellowship status and board certification with the American College of Radiology. The past president of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, the Florida Radiological Society, and the Sarasota County Medical Society, the Sarasota-based physician served as a founding trustee of the Hospice Foundation of Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties. In addition to his longtime role at the oncology centers, Dr. Alan Porter serves as a consultant with Medicare/Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc.
At the University of Florida, Dr. Alan H. Porter earned a bachelor of science in chemistry, a master of science in radiation physics, and a medical degree. He also fulfilled his residency at the University of Florida. Thereafter he became Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor and was awarded an American Cancer Society Fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Recognized by his peer physicians for 14-straight years as one of the "Best Doctors in America"(Woodard and White) Dr. Porter sits on the Physicians Advisory Council for Radiation Oncology for Florida.
